Backstory...
Nicki and her twin sister Vera were inseparable as cubs, but where Vera thrived on discipline and structure, Nicki embraced warmth and creativity. She had a nurturing spirit, always eager to lend a helping paw and bring joy to those around her. While her sister saw the body as a machine, Nicki saw life as something to nourish—whether through food, kindness, or sustainability. She spent her days experimenting with recipes, repurposing discarded materials into something useful, and soaking in the sun’s endless energy. To Nicki, nothing was ever truly waste—everything had the potential for renewal.

Growing up...
Nicki’s passion for sustainability and good food led her to start Daybreak Bagels, selling her fresh-baked bagels every morning at Raised by the Waves. Each morning, her bagels brought the islanders together, turning a simple breakfast into a daily moment of warmth and connection before they started their day. But her contributions didn’t stop there. She spent mornings assisting Malia at Raised by the Waves, gaining a deep appreciation for the island’s natural cycles, and afternoons with Chante’s beach cleanups, where she found new ways to repurpose discarded materials into something useful. Whether turning old flour sacks into tote bags or crafting compost from kitchen scraps, Nicki found ways to breathe new purpose into everything she touched. Her warmth and resourcefulness made her an integral part of Coco Island’s sustainability efforts.

Currently...
Now, Nicki runs Daybreak Bagels, where the scent of fresh-baked bread fills the air and every bite carries a touch of her care. Between serving the island’s best bagels, helping Malia with the harvest, and sorting recyclables from Chante’s cleanups, she keeps Coco Island thriving in more ways than one. While Vera builds strength through discipline, Nicki builds it through nourishment—of people, of nature, and the belief that nothing ever truly needs to be discarded when it can be given new purpose.
