Seashells are more than beautiful ocean treasures. They are the protective homes and skeletons of marine animals, including mollusks such as clams, scallops, and sea snails. As shells naturally break down, they contribute calcium carbonate to coastal sediments and become part of the intricate habitats that support marine life.
